According to the Games\u2019 website, gc2018.com<\/em>, Malawi are on the list courtesy of their shock 57-53 win over New Zealand\u2019s Silver Ferns.<\/p>\n \u201cMalawi registered the nation\u2019s first-ever win against New Zealand, sparking wild celebrations after the upset 57-53 result. The Malawi Queens\u2019 victory was their first success against two-time Commonwealth champions, New Zealand, in 10 attempts,\u201d reads a report released after the Games\u2019 closing ceremony on Sunday.<\/p>\n The Queens\u2019 victory was dramatic as they trailed by seven goals at half-time, but went on to set up their famous victory with a 17-9 third-quarter lead over New Zealand.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have beaten the untouchables,\u201d the Queens\u2019 Coach, Whyte Mulilima, was quoted as saying.<\/p>\n Kukoma Diamonds Chairperson, Isaac Chimwala, said it was only befitting for the organisers to place the Malawi- New Zealand game among the competition\u2019s best moments, considering the Queens\u2019 earlier losses to eventual champions England and Uganda.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is just phenomenal to have the Queens in the Games\u2019 best moments. We should build on that result to achieve more.
