{"id":63915,"date":"2018-04-16T05:39:16","date_gmt":"2018-04-16T03:39:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=63915"},"modified":"2018-04-16T05:39:17","modified_gmt":"2018-04-16T03:39:17","slug":"wachituta-masudi-team-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2018\/04\/16\/wachituta-masudi-team-up\/","title":{"rendered":"Wachituta, Masudi team up"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Musicians Wachituta Thombozi, who used to star with Bantu Kamuradzi, and Goodson Masudi have partnered to work on musical projects.<\/p>\n<p>The two have been in the driving seat, bringing artists together in a project known as Guitar Club.<\/p>\n<p>Through the Guitar Club, artists, both veterans and up-and-coming, meet to share ideas on playing the guitar.<\/p>\n<p>Wachituta and Masudi are also in the studio working on a 10-track album.<\/p>\n<p>Masudi said he has been friends with Wachituta for some time and that, through their interaction, they have been composing songs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe just thought of recording these songs and put up an album. We are looking forward to doing the best,\u201d Masudi, who also plays the saxophone, said.<\/p>\n<p>Wachituta said they could have made headway on the album but have been delayed by power shortages.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe creative industry has been affected heavily by power shortages. We are taking ages to work on a song because of power shortages,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Wachituta said they were yet to come up with the title of the album.<\/p>\n<p>On the Guitar Club initiative, Wachituta said they created it after seeing that there was a gap as far as playing the guitar was concerned.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs musicians, we need not restrict ourselves to playing vocals but we need to strive to learn different instruments. We noticed this gap and, so, we meet to share ideas on the basics of the guitar,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Masudi said, through the Guitar Club, they teach each other the guitar for free.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is also part of networking because different musicians meet. Some of them are good guitar players who share with those who want to upgrade,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Wachituta said, since they started the initiative, there have been improvements in performances of other artists.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMany of the artists in the country have not had the chance to go to music schools. They started playing the guitar on their own but, then, we need to be creative and that is where the Guitar Club comes in,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Through the Guitar Club, Wachituta said they hold jam sessions where they perfect each other.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur friends in other countries have got an identity when it comes to music but, here, we still have a challenge.
