Voiceflame, an organisation whose founder is US-based Mary Tuchscherer, has announced that it is working on its second anthology that is set to give Malawian women a chance to tell their stories.<\/p>\n
The organisation published its first book titled Ndakuwona <\/em>whose subtitle is I See You with My Heart. <\/em><\/p>\n This is an anthology which has stories of Malawian and US women.<\/p>\n Tuchscherer said yesterday that true stories are powerful and that they were looking for women to submit their stories.<\/p>\n \u201cWe want women to tell a story from their life that will motivate, challenge or teach parents and their girls the importance of education for females,\u201d Tuchscherer said.<\/p>\n She said women should submit their stories in English with words between 1,000 to 2,000.<\/p>\n \u201cThe stories will be selected for content, style, clarity and diversity. The selected participants will receive a free copy of the finished book,\u201d Tuchscherer said.<\/p>\n She said that they were anticipating that 24 to 36 essays would be selected.<\/p>\n The stories should be sent to mary@voiceflame.org <\/em>not later than May 15 2018.<\/p>\n VoiceFlame has said that it is committed to literacy development as a way to empower women and eliminate discrimination and has been leading in writing workshops in the US and Malawi.<\/p>\n Tuchscherer said, through writing, many women have expressed a lot of emotional healing, have told the stories they were holding such as those of abuse and loss of family members.<\/p>\n She said she found herself in Malawi in 2007 and learned that a handful of women had ever been published. She became acutely aware of the depth of silence that was being endured.<\/p>\n \u201cWe want stories from all women, be it in rural or urban areas throughout Malawi.
