Nyasa Big Bullets Sunday claimed a third straight Charity Shield after thrashing Silver Strikers 3-0 at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.<\/p>\n
Veteran striker Chiukepo Msowoya hammered a first half brace before Precious Phiri completed the rout in the second half as Bullets won the Shield for the third successive year since it was introduced in 2016.<\/p>\n
Msowoya opened the flood gates after five minutes in the first half before completing his brace with four minutes to the break. Phiri netted the third goal in the second half to seal Silver\u2019s fate.<\/p>\n
It was a game Bullets dominated as Silver struggled to replicate the form that saw them beat Be Forward Wanderers 2-0 at the same venue on Saturday.<\/p>\n
For Silver, it was painful losing to Bullets for the second consecutive time in a space of three weeks, having also lost 2-0 in a Misa-Malawi fundraising match.<\/p>\n
Though they struggled in the first game against Kamuzu Barracks on Saturday, Bullets reorganised themselves against Silver and displayed a solid performance.<\/p>\n
On the other hand, Silver tried to put things together but it was not their day. Yunus Sherrif, Chisomo Mpachika and Mike Robert struggled to contain Bullets\u2019 attacking trio of Msowoya, Nelson Kangunje and Bright Munthali.<\/p>\n
In the third place play offs, Kamuzu Barracks defeated Be Forward Wanderers 1-0 through Diof Simaone\u2019s goal.<\/p>\n
This means Wanderers have finished the 2018 Charity Shield on position four without scoring a goal in two games, having conceded three.<\/p>\n
The TNM Super League champions have plenty of homework to do before the start of the season.<\/p>\n
Bullets Team Manager, James Chilapondwa, said morale was high heading into the opening week of the season.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a good game for us and we salute the players for playing according to instructions. Our preparations are on track ahead of the new season,\u201d Chilapondwa said.<\/p>\n
His Silver counterpart, Francis Songo, conceded defeat but said there was no need to panic.<\/p>\n
