{"id":63556,"date":"2018-04-06T11:03:51","date_gmt":"2018-04-06T09:03:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=63556"},"modified":"2018-04-06T11:03:51","modified_gmt":"2018-04-06T09:03:51","slug":"new-sport-heads-to-central-region","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2018\/04\/06\/new-sport-heads-to-central-region\/","title":{"rendered":"New sport heads to Central Region"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The steering committee for a new sport called gendaball has unveiled plans to hold awareness clinics in the Central Region.<\/p>\n<p>Instructor and committee member, Hamilton Kadyeramwana, said time was ripe for the sport to spread to other regions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf course, we don\u2019t have much capacity but we need to take the sport to the Central Region. People have been calling for this sport and it is fair that we should take it to them. We hope to attract huge crowds as has been the case in Blantyre,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Kadyeramwana said the committee was working with gendaball\u2019s inventor, Francis Mwalabu, who works at the Malawi Embassy Office in Ethiopia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need to follow guidelines which the inventor set so as to achieve our objectives,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The sport has been introduced in schools and community centres.<\/p>\n<p>Gendaball is played using a soft ball, slightly bigger than that of cricket.
