[An]AGM, as the word suggests, should be conducted yearly but that has not been the case in the country. Secondly, we have broadcasting rights’ issue that remains unresolved. We expected this issue to be prioritised but that is not the case. These are some of the burning issues that our club and other teams have on our chest,” Butao said.

He added that they expect Sulom officials to change the way they handle concerns from clubs.

“For Sulom to respond to your concerns, it is never easy. Most of the times, our issues just die a natural death because there is nobody to attend to them,” Butao said.

Silver General Secretary, Thabo Nyirenda, said their main concern was on hiccups which clubs face when registering players.

“It is not easy to register a player in this country as it is always a hassle. Some responsible officials want us to be kneeling down and worshipping them, which is not the way to operate.

“Instead of Sulom officials being our servants, they behave like our masters. We also expect to raise our concerns on sharing of gate revenues in league and cup games. This has not been addressed for a long time,” Nyirenda said.

Mzuni General Secretary, Donnex Chilonga, said they expect the AGM to tackle the issue of delays of fixtures.

Nyasa Big Bullets Chief Executive Officer, Fleetwood Haiya, said his team has many concerns but cannot pre-empt them.

Most of the teams’ officials said they expect Sulom to be fighting for them.

The clubs faulted Sulom for failing to reason with Football Association of Malawi over the introduction of Club Licensing System fee of K2 million.

Sulom General Secretary, Williams Banda, said all was set for the AGM.

“We have constitutional agendas which are now ready and have been sent to the clubs,” Banda said.

However, clubs are yet to receive Sulom’s financial reports for perusal ahead of the AGM.

Sulom Treasurer, Tiya Somba-Banda, said the reports will be sent to the teams by Thursday as auditors are finalising them.

Top-flight league clubs want to grill Super League of Malawi’s (Sulom) Executive Committee during Saturday’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) scheduled for Pamadzi Beach Resort in Mangochi District.
