We use it mostly for expectant mothers and children,” Kapawe said.

The hospital administers about 250 to 300 patients in a day, 35 of whom are children.

According to Kapawe, the common illness at the facility is malaria.

The facility delivers about 10 babies in a day.

“Much as we are doing well in infection prevention, we would also want assistance in sanitary equipment such as buckets and mops,” she said.

In a related development, Warehouse Village Bank from Blantyre has committed to helping the heath facility.

The group announced the commitment when its members visited the facility on Monday to cheer children as part of Easter holiday celebrations.

“We will find some money and help out at least by buying an equipment. Our visit today was, however, to cheer the sick children with the word of the Lord and some little gifts.
