For several years we have been complaining about this issue but there is no change. The delay in the release of the fixture affects our planning and budgeting. By now, we should have been aware of which teams we are meeting so that we can plan both psychologically and financially,” Chilonga said.

Nchalo FC Chairperson, Peter Chiipanthenga, said the authorities have to be asking why there are no improvements on the release of fixtures.

“By now, at least, first-round fixtures could have been released. You and I should be asking why this challenge is still there. I don’t want to say that this is the way we operate but this thing has been there for some time,” Chiipanthenga said.

Masters Security General Secretary, Zacharia Nyirenda, said his team does not have a problem with delays to release the fixture.

“We already know how many games we will play. We know that the league will kick off in two weeks’ time and we know that, at some point, we will travel to Karonga District, so there are no problems because that has already been budgeted for. We should not compare ourselves with countries where they run their leagues in a professional way,” Nyirenda said.

Sulom General Secretary, Williams Banda, Monday claimed that the fixtures are ready.

“The fixtures are ready and we are only waiting for the booklets to be printed out. Other teams are yet to tell us their home grounds but we cannot wait for that. As of now, only six teams have confirmed their home grounds but we cannot wait for others,” Banda said.

Football Association of Malawi, which released its calendar of events last month, is inspecting venues in line with Club Licensing System requirements.

Sulom might have delayed to release the fixtures as most teams, especially those from the Southern Region, have no home grounds.

There is a crisis of venues in the Southern Region due to the closure for renovation of Kamuzu Stadium, Chiwembe Ground and Chilomoni Stadium whereas BAT Ground is in ruins.

Some TNM Super League teams are concerned with Super League of Malawi’s (Sulom) delays to release the fixture for the 2018 season.
