Malawi under-20 national football team Head Coach, Meke Mwase, was left ruing missed chances after his charges drew 0-0 against Swaziland in the first leg of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe on Saturday.<\/p>\n
The junior Flames squandered numerous scoring opportunities, despite dominating the game.<\/p>\n
Malawi will travel to Swaziland for the second leg slated for April 21 at Mavuso Sports Complex in Mbabane.<\/p>\n
Mwase said his charges were just unfortunate not to score against a determined Swaziland.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe created several chances but I think we lacked composure. We will rectify the problems before the second leg and we are confident we can do it because, in football, anything can happen,\u201d Mwase said.<\/p>\n
Striker Peter Banda was named Man of the Match after a solid performance throughout the game.<\/p>\n
Former prolific goal scorer, Andrew Chikhosi, who is also part of the country\u2019s national women\u2019s football team technical panel, said he remains optimistic that the junior Flames would qualify for the second round.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think not all is lost, we just need to prepare well for the second leg. Swaziland are a good team but we can beat them at their backyard,\u201d Chikhosi said.<\/p>\n
The junior Flames need a victory away to Swaziland to progress to the next round.<\/p>\n
The overall winner between the two teams will face Angola in the last round of the qualifiers.<\/p>\n
