Newly elected Be Forward Wanderers Treasurer, Robert Mbedza, has said the team\u2019s Executive Committee will resurrect fundraising activities for stadium construction.<\/p>\n
In 2016, Wanderers held fundraising activities, including dinner and dance, to raise money for buying a piece of land for the stadium.<\/p>\n
However, Wanderers abandoned the idea after failing to raise enough money.<\/p>\n
But Mbedza, while not guaranteeing construction of the stadium by his committee, said buying a piece of land was possible.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are one of the oldest teams in the country and the idea to have a piece of land for our stadium was great. All we need is to purchase land so that whoever comes in future at Wanderers should have a good foundation. It is our hope that we will manage to do this,\u201d Mbedza said.<\/p>\n
Wanderers Chairperson, Gift Mkandawire, last Sunday, after being ushered into office, said the committee has great ambitions for the new season.<\/p>\n
The team\u2019s Supporters Committee General Secretary, Sam Mponda, said they would support the stadium project.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are very sure that they will achieve that. Having a piece of land will give us hope that one day the dream of having our stadium will come true,\u201d Mponda said.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Nyasa Big Bullets said they were also looking for a piece of land to build a 10, 000-seater capacity stadium.<\/p>\n
