Civil Society Organisations (CSO) pushing for the resignation of Finance Minister Goodall Gondwe over the K4 billion scandal are reviewing their plan to go to court<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat we are waiting for is our legal team to compile a legal opinion. So we might and then we will make a decision based on what can come out of the analysis,\u201d said Gift Trapence, Executive Director for Centre for the Development of People.<\/p>\n
Trapence said they are taking the legal route after they failed to reach a compromise when they held a dialogue with Gondwe mid this month.<\/p>\n
On the planned demonstration for next month, Trapence said preparations are underway and different stakeholders are being engaged.<\/p>\n
Trapence said they will not rescind their decision, as their engagement with government yielded no results, in respect to their demands.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are still going on with the demonstrations. We had a chance of meeting the government, now it\u2019s up to them to look at our demands,\u201d he said<\/p>\n
Apart from Gondwe, the activists also want Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Kondwani Nankhumwa to resign over the same issue.<\/p>\n
Initially, 86 constituencies benefited from the projects before a decision was made to make all the 193 constituencies access the funding.<\/p>\n
Both Gondwe and Nankhumwa have refused to resign and cancel the funding.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
