{"id":63107,"date":"2018-03-29T12:21:02","date_gmt":"2018-03-29T10:21:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=63107"},"modified":"2018-03-29T12:21:03","modified_gmt":"2018-03-29T10:21:03","slug":"machinga-boma-to-relocate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2018\/03\/29\/machinga-boma-to-relocate\/","title":{"rendered":"Machinga Boma to relocate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The headquarters of Machinga District will shortly be moved to Liwonde Township, authorities have disclosed.<\/p>\n<p>This follows a recommendation from the government, which has issues with the geographical position of the district\u2019s headquarters.<\/p>\n<p>Machinga District Commissioner, Bester Mandele, said the geographical position of the current headquarters is not ideal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will, therefore, move the headquarters soon,\u201d Mandele said.<\/p>\n<p>Mandele is already working from Liwonde Town.<\/p>\n<p>Machinga District senior economist, who also acts as the District Development Officer, Molson Magombo, concurred with his boss.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLiwonde is a central area,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>However, Davie Lali, legislator for Machinga Likwenu, the constituency where the current headquarters are, said, although Liwonde is centrally located, structures erected at Machinga District Council headquarters may become \u201cuseless\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Machinga District, formerly known as Kasupe, was renamed by former president, Dr Hastings Kamuzu Banda, in respect of the first settlers at the Boma, who originated from Mozambique, then popularly known as a Machinga.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The headquarters of Machinga District will shortly be moved to Liwonde Township, authorities have disclosed.
