Southern Region Volleyball League (SRVL) is, this weekend, expected to hold a qualifying championship for Vale Logistics National Tournament.<\/p>\n
SRVL wants to identify four teams each in females\u2019 and males\u2019 divisions to compete at the national finals.<\/p>\n
The league\u2019s Secretary, Martin Hausi, said Vale will fund the tournament and sensitisation campaign to the tune of K6,750, 000.<\/p>\n
\u201cOut of this amount, K2, 500, 000 has been earmarked for the national tournament in Blantyre,\u201d he said ahead of the national finals set to run from March 31 to April 1 at College of Medicine Sports Complex.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe national volleyball tournament is part of a bigger campaign to sensitise the general public, especially those dwelling along the Vale Railway Line from Moatize and Tete in Mozambique, through Chikwawa, Mwanza, Neno, Balaka, and Machinga districts in Malawi to Nayuchi and Nacala in Mozambique with the aim of protecting, maintaining and preserving the rail infrastructure along the rail line,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Hausi said Volleyball Association of Malawi has mandated SRVL to host the national tournament and conduct the promotional activities.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe schedule of the games and the campaign will be released. Vam is working on a budget for these activities and will allocate part of the funds to buy volleyball equipment and materials for distribution to the communities,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The national tournament will attract 18 teams with the men\u2019s section contributing 10 teams whereas the ladies\u2019 section will attract eight sides.<\/p>\n
Central and Northern regional volleyball leagues will provide three men\u2019s and two women\u2019s teams each, while eight teams will represent SRVL.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
