{"id":62698,"date":"2018-03-22T10:27:00","date_gmt":"2018-03-22T08:27:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=62698"},"modified":"2018-03-22T10:27:00","modified_gmt":"2018-03-22T08:27:00","slug":"nyandoro-mthenga-releases-single","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2018\/03\/22\/nyandoro-mthenga-releases-single\/","title":{"rendered":"Nyandoro Mthenga releases single"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Musician Nyandoro Mthenga, famed for songs such as \u2018Binji Na Mkazache,\u2019 and \u2018Wako Ndi Wako\u2019 has released a single titled \u2018Ndinenso Munthu\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Nyandoro, who has always valued traditional music and has been influential in promoting traditional dances from the Lower Shire, said yesterday the single is part of an album he is working on, set to be released in November.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis single is part of an album I am working on to be released later. The song was released on March 16,\u201d Nyandoro said.<\/p>\n<p>The artist, who plays the mbira, said he will release three singles and that people should watch the space.<\/p>\n<p>Nyandoro has been out of the limelight with some quarters saying he had run out of steam.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am still there but it\u2019s not about just releasing songs but doing quality work. It\u2019s not about quantity but quality,\u201d the Lilongwe-based musician said.<\/p>\n<p>He said the single is already on sale and that people can access it on the online platform on apmcstore.<\/p>\n<p>With piracy hitting musicians hard, musicians have changed focus concentrating on singles rather than albums.<\/p>\n<p>The song has seen Nyandoro not running away from his traditional style.<\/p>\n<p>This is a soft track which cannot be likened to danceable tracks such as \u2018Binji Na Mkazache\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am determined to launch the album but for now, let people sample the singles. The underlying message in the album is relationships and in this case I am looking at man, woman, neighbours, work life and politics,\u201d Nyandoro said.<\/p>\n<p>He then revealed that the song which will come up next is titled \u2018Leka Upoka\u2019, and that in Sena it means stop being stubborn.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMind you I am releasing the songs after a six year break and that tells you I have been monitoring the music landscape,\u201d Nyandoro said.<\/p>\n<p>The soft-spoken musician also said that he is planning to hold two shows this year.<\/p>\n<p>But several veteran artists have failed to hit the top, with urban music dominating these days.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUrban music has taken the right direction but I am still sticking with traditional music which is rich and mature and the identity of the country,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The last time Nyandoro released his work was in 2012 when he came with <em>No Name <\/em>but he admits that it was not fully promoted.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the albums to his credit include <em>Binji Na Mkazache, Nyakabusa, Mtchona, Wako Ndi Wako <\/em>and <em>Best of Nyandoro Mthenga.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Musician Nyandoro Mthenga, famed for songs such as \u2018Binji Na Mkazache,\u2019 and \u2018Wako Ndi Wako\u2019 has released a single titled \u2018Ndinenso Munthu\u2019.
