With four days remaining before Be Forward Wanderers\u2019 Executive Committee elections, the team\u2019s officials, Mariot Phambana and Andrew Mwadala, have also declared interest in contesting.<\/p>\n
The elections are slated for March 25 in Blantyre.<\/p>\n
Phambana on Sunday said he would contest as committee member, while Mwadala is eyeing the third chairmanship post.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf elected committee member, my duty would be to foster relationships between the Executive Committee and supporters. I have noted that supporters are not incorporated into the team\u2019s activities; therefore, we need the supporters\u2019 chairman to be directly linked to the main Executive Committee. Secondly, I think we need to strengthen our reserve side. So, I believe that I have the capabilities to help in the management of the team as committee member,\u201d Phambana said.<\/p>\n
Mwadala, who is a serving committee member, said he would ensure that the team participates in more international tournaments.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have now made up my mind. The idea to participate in the Confederation of African Football (Caf) was not bad. Our committee managed to do that after many years of absence. I would, therefore, like to continue with the idea. That exposes our players to more international teams as well as helping them sharpen their skills,\u201d Mwadala said.<\/p>\n
Wanderers incumbent General Secretary, Mike Butao is seeking re-election on the post.<\/p>\n
Butao said it was good that people are showing interest in contesting during the elections.<\/p>\n
Former Wanderers general secretary, David Kanyenda, also wants a comeback but he has not specified the post.<\/p>\n
Judiciary spokesperson, Mlenga Mvula, wants to contest as General Secretary, while incumbent Chairperson, Gift Mkandawire, is yet to declare his stand.<\/p>\n
