Levison Kapito and Myungbook Shim were on cloud nine after winning Wednesday\u2019s Toyota Malawi Ballpool at Blantyre Sports Club.<\/p>\n
For Kapito, it was a relief after playing for some time without winning a title.<\/p>\n
Kapito, playing off handicap 11, scored 22 points to be crowned the winner.<\/p>\n
John Gift Mwakhwawa, playing off handicap 12, scored 21 points to finish as the runner-up whereas Gift Chirwa, playing off handicap 20, ended on third position with 20 points.<\/p>\n
Kapito said it was a dream come true to win.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt has been a while since I won a title. Last year, I was finishing on second or third positions in most tournaments. But I was focused today and this helped me to play fantastic drives,\u201d he said while thanking Toyota for supporting golf.<\/p>\n
In the ladies\u2019 section, Shim, playing off handicap 29, posted 18 points to get the women\u2019s crown.<\/p>\n
In her brief speech, Shim said she enjoyed the tournament and praised her playing partners and the sponsor.<\/p>\n
Bose Kamphulusa, playing off handicap 26, scored 17 points to finish as the runner-up.<\/p>\n
In subsidiary prizes, Harriet Mariani hit the longest drive on hole 17 in the ladies\u2019 section whereas Honest Chirwa won the nearest to the pin on hole 12.<\/p>\n
Toyota Malawi National Sales and Marketing Manager, Newton Kasililika-Mlagha, said they used the tournament to promote the new GD engine.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have always partnered the golf fraternity. Last month, we launched a new GD engine on our Hilux and Fortuner. We organised this ballpool to bring this GD engine to the golfers.
