Malawi national netball team Coach, Griffin Saenda, has ruled out two players, Mary Banya and Fanny Mwale, from the ongoing camp training at Blantyre Youth Centre.<\/p>\n
The two did not report when camping commenced last week and are reportedly engaged with work commitments.<\/p>\n
Banya plays for Presidential Cup champions Blue Eagles Sisters whereas Mwale is Mafco Soldiers\u2019 goalkeeper-cum-defender.<\/p>\n
Queens are preparing for the Taini Jamison Trophy in Auckland, New Zealand from March 21 to 24 as well as the Commonwealth Games from April 5 to 16 in Gold Coast City, Australia.<\/p>\n
Saenda said it would be difficult to accommodate the two because they would struggle to catch up with the rest of the team.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe understand their situation and we cannot force them because they are equally busy with important matters. So, we are moving on with the players we have in camp,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Saenda said the pair will not be replaced because the technical panel called enough players into camp.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe already have a big squad and it is better to concentrate on the players who are with us in camp. So, we will not call for reinforcements,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The Queens mentor said the technical panel was also closely following the team\u2019s two professional players, Mwawi Kumwenda of Melbourne Vixens and Manchester Thunders\u2019 Joyce Mvula.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are following them closely and we are impressed with their performances. They will be good additions to the team when they join us,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Queens are on a rebuilding exercise, having struggled last year when they lost 10 matches, including nine competitive games, in the absence of some key players.<\/p>\n
Most of the players that missed their campaign, such as Grace Mwafulirwa-Mhango, Sindie Simtowe-Msowoya and Towera Vinkhumbo- Nyirenda, have been recalled.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
