{"id":61791,"date":"2018-03-06T08:26:40","date_gmt":"2018-03-06T06:26:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=61791"},"modified":"2018-03-06T08:26:41","modified_gmt":"2018-03-06T06:26:41","slug":"yona-malunga-eyes-hot-seat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2018\/03\/06\/yona-malunga-eyes-hot-seat\/","title":{"rendered":"Yona Malunga eyes hot seat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former Be Forward Wanderers chief supporter, Yona Malunga, has declared his interest in contesting for the post of Chairperson during the club\u2019s Executive Committee elections on March 25.<\/p>\n<p>Malunga Monday said, once elected, he would ensure that Wanderers win trophies, buy a state-of-the-art team-bus and build a stadium.<\/p>\n<p>Malunga said running a club is not about possessing sound academic qualifications but understanding what it takes to win trophies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI urge all supporters to rally behind me because I will do what they want once they elect me as chairperson of the club.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have been at Wanderers for quite a long time and I know what I am doing. I have connections with Malawians based in United States of America. They are ready to support us,\u201d Malunga said.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Blantyre-based businessperson, Davison Pemba, has said he would contest as Vice Treasurer.<\/p>\n<p>Pemba said he has roots in Wanderers as his father also served in the team\u2019s Executive Committee in the 1980s.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want the club to progress.
