{"id":61604,"date":"2018-03-02T10:12:34","date_gmt":"2018-03-02T08:12:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=61604"},"modified":"2018-03-02T10:12:35","modified_gmt":"2018-03-02T08:12:35","slug":"malawi-defence-force-reshuffles-coaches","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2018\/03\/02\/malawi-defence-force-reshuffles-coaches\/","title":{"rendered":"Malawi Defence Force reshuffles coaches"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Malawi Defence Force (MDF) football teams, Red Lions and Mafco, will be forced to change their coaching panels in readiness for the new season, as their respective coaches fall short of Club Licensing System\u2019s requirements, <em>The Daily Times <\/em>has learnt.<\/p>\n<p>Details have emerged that Mafco Coach Temwa Msuku and his Lions counterpart Nelson Chirwa will not be in charge of their respective teams next season as they are under-qualified.<\/p>\n<p>Only coaches who hold Caf B licence are allowed to serve as head coaches in the Super League.<\/p>\n<p>Msuku, a holder of Caf C-Coaching Licence, has been stopped from drilling the team, with his assistant Gift Kadammanja taking charge of the squad.<\/p>\n<p>In Zomba, Lions have submitted the name of Stereo Gondwe as their coach to Football Association of Malawi (Fam), and sidelined Chirwa who was named best MDF football coach.<\/p>\n<p>Following Msuku\u2019s imminent firing as Mafco\u2019s coach, the Salima-based soldiers were eyeing Charles Kamanga.<\/p>\n<p>However, Kamanga has since been appointed as Moyale Barracks Head Coach, following Nicholas Mhango\u2019s departure for studies.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, Fisd Challenge Cup champions, Kamuzu Barracks, have reportedly kept faith in Billy Phambala, despite his suspension for the entire first-round of next season.<\/p>\n<p>Sources within the MDF have said the arrangement to reshuffle the coaching panels has come from MDF headquarters in Lilongwe through the Department of Sports and Culture.<\/p>\n<p>But on Wednesday, Sports Officer at the MDF Department of Sports and Culture, Peter Genti, said he was yet to get details of the reshuffles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will come back to you once I get information on the issue,\u201d Genti said.<\/p>\n<p>Gondwe said he was ready to work for any MDF team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am also just hearing of [these] reports but I am still waiting for communication from the bosses,\u201d Gondwe said.<\/p>\n<p>Mafco Chairperson, Gabriel Chigumi , on Wednesday confirmed that Kadammanja was in charge of the team temporarily.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOther details will be shared at an appropriate time once our seniors finalise some of the issues,\u201d Chigumi said.<\/p>\n<p>Msuku confirmed that he was no longer in charge of Mafco.<\/p>\n<p>Fam Transfer Matching System Manager, Casper Jangale, said no club would be given special consideration to use under-qualified coaches next season.<\/p>\n<p>Jangale also confirmed that the documents which Lions submitted to his office indicated that Gondwe was their new coach.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Malawi Defence Force (MDF) football teams, Red Lions and Mafco, will be forced to change their coaching panels in readiness for the new season, as their respective coaches fall short of Club Licensing System\u2019s requirements, The Daily Times has learnt.
