{"id":6121,"date":"2015-07-17T08:34:29","date_gmt":"2015-07-17T08:34:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=6121"},"modified":"2015-07-17T08:34:29","modified_gmt":"2015-07-17T08:34:29","slug":"concert-for-a-cause","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2015\/07\/17\/concert-for-a-cause\/","title":{"rendered":"Concert for a cause"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Blantyre-based organisation Rays of Hope that is aimed at uplifting the youth by among others teaching them the word of God, has organised a concert dubbed <em>Nurture A Child Nourish the Nation <\/em>this Sunday at Robin\u2019s Park in Blantyre.<\/p>\n<p>The organisation, which also pays school fees for needy students to further their studies, says the concert is part of generating funds to reach out to the needy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is a lot that we are doing as an organisation basically we want to reach out to the needy out there hence and so this concert is part of raising funds to help us expand our programmes,\u201d said the organisation\u2019s Executive Director Willie Mpasuka.<\/p>\n<p>He said Rays of Hope is an organisation that was created by young people who are Christians and that since they started they have had a tremendous success and that as they are growing, they have realised that the need is huge.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs young people we set up this organisation in 2009 after seeing lots of problems in the country ranging from economic to education. Right now we are reaching out to over 100 children and young people in Chilomoni, Blantyre coming from disadvantaged backgrounds but we want to reach out to more hence this concert,\u201d said Mpasuka.<\/p>\n<p>One of the artists who is set to perform at the concert Jew Chapomba said he is happy to be part of this show which is aimed at raising funds to go towards supporting the needy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am happy to be part of this show which is of great value. Rays of Hope is doing a commendable job of looking after children and young people. So I decided to use my talent to perform and help out and whenever I perform with fellow young people I get blessed,\u201d said Chapomba.<\/p>\n<p>DJ Kali real name Yamikani Kalizang\u2019oma said he is looking forward to the best during the show and that he is excited to be part of this concert which will go along way in assisting the needy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn our communities we have lots of problems and what Rays of Hope is doing is something worth supporting.
