{"id":60680,"date":"2018-02-14T09:09:58","date_gmt":"2018-02-14T07:09:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=60680"},"modified":"2018-02-14T09:09:59","modified_gmt":"2018-02-14T07:09:59","slug":"mid-year-budget-presentation-friday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2018\/02\/14\/mid-year-budget-presentation-friday\/","title":{"rendered":"Mid-year budget presentation Friday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Development, Goodall Gondwe, is this Friday expected to present the revised 2017\/18 national budget.<\/p>\n<p>In June last year, Parliament passed a K1.3 trillion budget and there are indications that the budget may be revised based on the situation on the ground.<\/p>\n<p>According to a notice which has been appearing on the Order Paper since last week, the minister will deliver the statement at 12:30pm.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Development will present the mid-year budget review statement on Friday 16th February 2018, immediately before adjournment of the House at 12:30pm,\u201d reads the notice.<\/p>\n<p>At the beginning of this meeting, Speaker Richard Msowoya announced that the spokesperson for opposition political parties would respond to the statement on Monday, February 19 2018, before general debate starts.<\/p>\n<p>Members of Parliament are expected to pass the budget by Friday, March 2, the day the House adjourns <em>sine die. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>In earlier interviews, Malawi Congress Party spokesperson on finance, Alexander Kusamba Dzonzi, doubted the 6.1 percent economic growth that the government has been projecting for the year under review.<\/p>\n<p>Alliance for Democracy president, Enock Chihana, said the mid-year budget review is just a waste of time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Development, Goodall Gondwe, is this Friday expected to present the revised 2017\/18 national budget.
