Vice President Saulos Chilima is expected to grace this year \u2019s Insurance Institute of Malawi (IIM) Annual Charter Dinner slated for Sunbird Mount Soche in Blantyre on February 24.<\/p>\n
IIM Events Officer, David Masasa, said in an interview on Thursday that Chilima, a professional economist, is expected to deliver a keynote address during the gathering.<\/p>\n
Masasa said the dinner will be held under the theme \u2018Business Unusual\u2019.<\/p>\n
He said the charter dinner is an important event on the calendar of insurers as it officially closes 2017 and opens 2018.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe charter dinner provides an opportunity to insurers to reflect on last year and share ideas on how best to move ahead in the new year.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe dinner gives insurers an ample opportunity to exchange ideas in a relaxed environment,\u201d Masasa said.<\/p>\n
The charter dinner comes at a time insurance penetration in Malawi remains minimal at around three percent.<\/p>\n
Masasa said among the highlights of the event would be the inducting of a new IIM President as well as executive members.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs per tradition, the gathering will also recognise those who have made strides in their insurance studies,\u201d Masasa said.<\/p>\n
