Sunbird Tourism Limited has introduced special rates to reward its potential clients that will grace the Ku Chawe mountain race set for Saturday.<\/p>\n
Sunbird Tourism public relations manager, Akossa Mphepo, said they were hoping that the athletes would take the race seriously and as such they need to see the best of Malawi\u2019s talent taking part in the race.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe hope, of course, that after everything is finished, clients will drive up the plateau to enjoy the fine Sunbird hospitality it is for this reason that we are offering special accommodation rates; K45,000 single and K55,000.00 double,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Mphepo said the sponsorship was part of Sunbird Tourism\u2019s corporate social responsibility.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe believe that, through this race, people within the vicinity of Sunbird Ku Chawe will identify with the resort and be aware that Sunbird not only exists to conduct business within the area, but also enrich their lives in whatever way it can,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
She also said that the 21km race would be held simultaneously with the fun run and the proceeds would be used to build teachers\u2019 houses at Chawe FP School, a project that Sunbird Ku Chawe is undertaking in 2015.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe know that as athletes train for this 21km marathon, they will be conditioning their bodies for bigger marathons that are yet to come in the course of the year. We are also aware that the Athletics Association of Malawi will discover new talent from this race and it is our honour to provide athletic youth a podium to share their skills with the rest of Malawi so that athletics may develop further,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
