Gospel singer and guitarist Roy Kwelepeta popularly known as Roy K has said work and studies are keeping him out of releasing his songs.<\/p>\n
The musician, who has taken time without releasing new songs, said early this year that he would be launching a new album.<\/p>\n
But he said on Sunday that he has more than 50 songs but commitments have kept him out hence he is failing to launch an album.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt the moment, people should know that I have more songs which can even make up two to three albums but I cannot manage to launch now because I have little time,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Roy K famed for the reggae hit \u2018Amupeza,\u2019 warmed up the stage alongside Davis Njobvu during a concert at Chrichi Multipurpose Gardens in Chitawira, Blantyre whose main headliners were Patience Namadingo and Faith Mussa.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s been hard for me, some people feel I have stopped music but that\u2019s not true. I am still composing songs and as I said I have more than 50 songs which I just need to launch but I do not have enough time to do that,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He said he still performs in church as well as in other places where he is invited and that his performance on Sunday just showed that he was still in the game.<\/p>\n
\u201cI still promise Malawians that I will launch a new album although I have plans to go to school this year. But before I go to school I will make sure I hold some performances,\u201d said Roy K.<\/p>\n
He said if he doesn\u2019t launch the album, he will make sure that he releases the new songs little by little so that people experience his fresh songs.<\/p>\n
The artist also hailed the owner of Chrichi Multipurpose Gardens saying this was a venue convenient for concerts.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs artists we have been starved of proper venues for concerts but Chrichi Gardens is one of the good venues. It is actually convenient for family entertainment. Malawians need such kind of venues where people can seat down and listen to the songs,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The owner of Wales Chakukuma has since said that through the place he wants to help develop the creative industry in the country through hosting of special events.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have started with Patience Namadingo and Faith Mussa but there is more to come. People should just watch the space, we want to be holding shows that will make history but also satisfy the audience.
