{"id":60317,"date":"2018-02-07T09:37:01","date_gmt":"2018-02-07T07:37:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=60317"},"modified":"2018-02-07T09:37:02","modified_gmt":"2018-02-07T07:37:02","slug":"friendly-foesbig-bullets-donate-k1-million-to-nomads-masters-security-fc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2018\/02\/07\/friendly-foesbig-bullets-donate-k1-million-to-nomads-masters-security-fc\/","title":{"rendered":"FRIENDLY FOES\u2026Big Bullets donate K1 million to Nomads, Masters Security FC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Malawi\u2019s representatives in two continental competitions\u2014Be Forward Wanderers and Masters Security\u2014Tuesday received K500,000 each from Nyasa Big Bullets.<\/p>\n<p>The donation is timely considering that Masters are expected to leave for Angola today to face Atletico Petroleos de Luanda on Saturday in Confederation of African Football (Caf) Confederation Cup whereas Wanderers will leave tomorrow for the Democratic Republic of Congo to date AS Vita on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Bullets Chief Executive Officer, Fleetwood Haiya, said they donated the money because the two teams were carrying Malawi\u2019s flag in the continental competitions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe might be rivals on the pitch but we had to support these two teams because they are representing Malawi. So, as Nyasa Big Bullets Limited Company, we felt that we should support them financially, physically and psychologically. Let me also take advantage of this forum to confirm that we have been working jointly with Wanderers off the pitch in different activities. They also donated to us money when we took part in Caf Champions League some three years ago, and participated in a fundraising match for our former goalkeeper Vincent Gona.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are one football family and our only difference is the colours,\u201d he said in Blantyre.<\/p>\n<p>Nomads General Secretary, Mike Butao, said they never expected the donation from Bullets, having played them in a friendly on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe raised about K3 million when we played Bullets in the friendly, and we felt that sum was important. But now Bullets have gone an extra mile after donating the sum. Of course, we have been working with Bullets in different activities, including the Into Sports Bonanza,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Masters representative, Mervin Mbweza, said they were also delighted with Bullets\u2019 support.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe do not take Bullets\u2019 kind gesture for granted.
