{"id":59856,"date":"2018-01-30T06:13:35","date_gmt":"2018-01-30T04:13:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=59856"},"modified":"2018-01-30T06:13:35","modified_gmt":"2018-01-30T04:13:35","slug":"manchester-united-supporters-donate-to-zomba-hospital","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2018\/01\/30\/manchester-united-supporters-donate-to-zomba-hospital\/","title":{"rendered":"Manchester United supporters donate to Zomba hospital"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A group of 257 Malawians who support English Premier League giants, Manchester United, on Saturday made various donations valued at K2.6 million to Zomba Central Hospital (ZCH).<\/p>\n<p>The donations were in the form of the renovation of six toilets at the referral facility, medical equipment and drugs and the giving of cash to mothers of newly born babies.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking during the handover ceremony, the group\u2019s spokesperson, Webster Kaunga, said the donations are part of the group\u2019s social responsibility agenda<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat unites us all as a group is our love for Manchester United. But we have the heart for the needy, the vulnerable and the disadvantaged. This is why we have been making donations to all of the country\u2019s central hospitals since the formation of the group,\u201d Kaunga said.<\/p>\n<p>He said the group would mobilise more resources to complete the renovation of four more toilets at the hospital.<\/p>\n<p>ZCH Chief Clinical Officer, Fredrick Mafunga, thanked the group for the donations.<\/p>\n<p>Mafunga said the renovated toilets had not been in use due to theft and vandalism but the donation has helped to restore their usage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Manchester United supporters have not just renovated the toilets, they have also fixed burglar bars to help prevent theft of the newly bought items,\u201d Mafunga said.<\/p>\n<p>The group operates through a Whats-App forum created by Mtchera Chirwa in August, 2015.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A group of 257 Malawians who support English Premier League giants, Manchester United, on Saturday made various donations valued at K2.6 million to Zomba Central Hospital (ZCH).
