Blantyre Teachers Training College students recently came together and displayed their talents showing that they can do more in expressive arts during an Open Day.<\/p>\n
Head of Department Rex Chasweka emphasised during the Open Day on the extreme importance of expressive arts in the education of primary school children and the role in their personal development.<\/p>\n
Chasweka said expressive arts triggers different and important areas in development of a child\u2019s personality and that it allows them to bond with other children and trains theoretical, sensitive and motorial skills needed to develop.<\/p>\n
The college\u2019s principal, Stanley Kwerengwe, who was the guest of honour during the Open Day said he was impressed with what the students displayed ranging from songs, traditional dances, drama, poetry and aerobics.<\/p>\n
\u201cA visit to the display of artworks made by the students showed the importance of the Open Day. Art is very important because it offers one the platform to speak out,\u201d said the principal.<\/p>\n
Apart from songs, traditional dances, drama and poetry, the students also displayed all sorts of artifacts during the Open Day showing how they value arts.<\/p>\n
\u201cStudents showcased their creations, explained and showed the guests how and why they were made and their possible function in a primary school classroom so it was a good event,\u201d said Kwerengwe.<\/p>\n
