{"id":59731,"date":"2018-01-27T09:18:29","date_gmt":"2018-01-27T07:18:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=59731"},"modified":"2018-01-27T09:18:30","modified_gmt":"2018-01-27T07:18:30","slug":"artificial-turf-handed-over","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2018\/01\/27\/artificial-turf-handed-over\/","title":{"rendered":"Artificial turf handed over"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Minister of Labour, Youth, Sports and Manpower Development, Francis Kasaila, has said maintenance works at Kamuzu Stadium will be finalised before the end of March.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking when he inspected the facility before handing over the artificial turf to the stadium\u2019s management Friday, the minister assured fans that the stadium will be able to host games in the 2018 season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe plan is to build another stadium at a place which has already been identified here in Blantyre. But teams and supporters need a place to watch games as we wait for the construction of the new facility, which is why we came up with the idea of rehabilitating this stadium so that by March, Fifa and Caf should inspect it,\u201d Kasaila said.<\/p>\n<p>After the inspection, the minister officially received the new turf, which arrived last weekend, then handed it over to the stadium\u2019s management.<\/p>\n<p>Managing Director for contractor PABE Construction, Paul Madula, concurred with Kasaila, adding that renovations were moving at a snail\u2019s pace due to logistical challenges.<\/p>\n<p>Director of Sports, Jameson Ndalama, said the contractor who will install the turf is already in the country to strategise on the way-forward.<\/p>\n<p>Kamuzu Stadium was closed last season to pave way for rehabilitation works.<\/p>\n<p>This forced Blantyre-based teams such as Nyasa Big Bullets, Be Forward Wanderers, Azam Tigers and Premier Bet Wizards to use stadiums in Balaka, Chikwawa and Mulanje districts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Minister of Labour, Youth, Sports and Manpower Development, Francis Kasaila, has said maintenance works at Kamuzu Stadium will be finalised before the end of March.
