Southern Region netball champions, Kukoma Diamonds, have reportedly slapped assistant Coach, Noel Mussa, with an indefinite suspension.<\/p>\n
The suspension follows the team\u2019s failure to defend the Presidential Cup and GOtv Netball Champions League last season.<\/p>\n
Diamonds were stunned by Civonets in GOtv Champions League and they surrendered the Presidential Cup to Blue Eagles Sisters.<\/p>\n
Fingers have pointed at Mussa as he was in-charge of the team when Head Coach, Griffin Saenda, was on a sick leave.<\/p>\n
Mussa is being accused of failing to control some players and fielding others who were unfit.<\/p>\n
A source said Mussa was taken to task last week and he was given an indefinite suspension.<\/p>\n
However, Mussa was on the coaches\u2019 bench when Diamonds retained the Rainbow Paints Southern Region Netball League<\/p>\n
championship on Saturday at Blantyre Youth Centre.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was told not to take active participation during the final game.<\/p>\n
He has been given an indefinite suspension because it is believed that some players misbehaved but he didn\u2019t act,\u201d said a source within Diamonds.<\/p>\n
Saenda said it was an in-house matter that was being addressed.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are some disciplinary issues which I am not comfortable to disclose to the media,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Diamonds Secretary, Chimwemwe Bakali, also refused to comment on Mussa\u2019s suspension, saying there were some technicalities that were being looked into before they make a final a decision.<\/p>\n
However, Mussa played down the issue, claiming that he was not served with any suspension letter.<\/p>\n
