Blantyre and Districts Netball Committee (BDNC) sponsor, Rainbow Paints, has raised concerns over the falling standards of the game in the region and at international level.
\nThe company\u2019s Sales and Marketing Executive, Jangale Chiosa, said they were not pleased with events that saw teams from the Southern Region failing to win two major national tournaments.
\n\u201cWe always claim to be the best region because we also dominate the national scene but that was not the case because all two national trophies were won by teams from the Central Region. This is a wake-up call to the administrators and teams that they should do something about their poor form,\u201d she said.
\nChiosa also said Malawi national netball team\u2019s failure at Fast5 Netball World Series in Australia and test matches in England last year reflected badly on the league.
\n\u201cWe boast that we contribute several players to the national team but the senior team\u2019s performance wasn\u2019t good, and this did not reflect well on the league. We expect the administrators, teams and players to work hard to bounce back,\u201d she said.
\nBDNC Chairperson, Junier Kazembe, said they had taken note of the concerns and promised to rectify mistakes.
\nKukoma Diamonds retained the league\u2019s title after finishing the season with a perfect record, having won all 18 games.
