Kukoma Diamonds finished the 2017 Rainbow Paints Southern Region Netball League in style after beating rivals Thunder Queens 55- 41 at Blantyre Youth Centre yesterday to maintain their dominance of the league.
\nDiamonds were highly motivated in yesterday\u2019s match as they welcomed back their Head Coach, Griffin Saenda, who missed a good part of the team\u2019s games last year due to illness.
\nThe win ensured that the champions finished the league unbeaten with 54 points in 18 games.
\nRainbow Paints Sales Executive, Jangale Chiosa, said the company is impressed with the standards of the game that were on display throughout the season.
\nBut she expressed disappointment that teams from the league failed to win national tournaments.
\n\u201cWe are pleased that players from our league dominated the national team callus. But we also wanted to see our teams winning all national competitions,\u201d Chiosa said.
\nBlantyre District Netball League Chairperson, Junia Kazembe, said while the league was a great success, it was disappointing that some teams and players lacked discipline.
\nDimaonds took home K1 million while runners-up Thunder pocketed K500,000.
\nTigresses finished third and went home with K250,000.
