Masters Security FC defenders rued their school boy mistakes as they lost 4-0 to Be Forward Wanderers in a friendly match played at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe yesterday.
\nAn overall lack of coordination was the major highlight of the match as the two sides fine-tuned for their respective Confederation of African Football (Caf) assignments.
\nThough not at their best, Wanderers benefitted from Masters\u2019 poor defending to score their goals.
\nPeter Wadabwa scored the opener after 35 minutes in the first half before Essau Kanyenda added the second from close range.
\nMasters\u2019 defender Patience Kalumo miscued the ball straight to Yamikani Chester who beat Chimwemwe Kunkwawa at near post for the third goal.
\nSubstitute Ted Sumani hammered the last nail in Masters\u2019 coffin in stoppage time to hand Wanderers a big victory ahead of their Caf Champions League preliminary round match against AS Vita of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
\nBut the scoreline was not a true reflection of the game as Masters were slightly the better side though they lacked coordination in all departments.
\nWithout Captain Joseph Kamwendo, Wanderers clearly struggled in midfield.
\n Masters date Petro de Luanda of Angola in the Confederation Cup and have plenty of work to do if they are to make a difference in their maiden continental appearance.
\nWanderers Head Coach, Yasin Osman, refused to get carried away with the result.
\n\u201cWe should not be complacent with the result because we have beaten a fellow local team. We will meet tougher opponents and we must continue working hard,\u201d Osman said.
\nBut Masters Head Coach, Abasi Makawa, said despite the defeat, he was impressed with the performance of his charges.
\n\u201cWe played with one striker and we dominated the game. This is the first friendly match for us and from what I have seen, we have a team that will be ready to compete,\u201d Makawa said.
