The Institute of People Management Malawi (IPMM), has asked human resource managers in the country to work together in order to uplift the profession.
\nThe call was made during a cocktail meant to thank various companies for supporting and sponsoring IPMM events over the years.
\nIPMM Vice President, Alick Sikelo, said, even though the profession is progressing, there is a gap that needs to be worked on.
\nHe said the HR profession is very critical at company level and requires skilled workers.
\n\u201cWe need to collaborate and sharpen the people management profession. This is a critical position as it provides profitability and productivity at every company,\u201d Sikelo said.
\nHe fur the r said the institution is working on a draft bill to regulate human resource management. The bill is expected to be presented to Parliament in the near future.
\n\u201cThe draft bill has just been presented to various stakeholders for their comments and then it will be taken to Cabinet. We believe this bill, once enacted, will ensure that the human resources industry has an accepted code of ethics and that it continues to develop,\u201d he said.
\nRepresenting the sponsors, Fred Nyirongo said the most difficult challenge for organisations is to build a strong team.
\nNyirongo said, for this to be achieved, it requires human resource managers to think outside the box.
