Civil Sporting Club have extended the contract of Raphael Phiri, to end Nyasa Big Bullets\u2019 interest in the promising striker.
\nPhiri was tipped to follow Righteous Banda to Bullets, but Civil acted swiftly by extending his contract to 2022.
\n\u201cWe don\u2019t want to lose our top players. This is why we have managed to keep Raphael. It was difficult holding on to Righteous because he had already made up his mind to join Bullets. So, we didn\u2019t want to be seen as standing in his way,\u201d he said.
\nCivil also want to offload six players ahead of next season.
\n\u201cCurrently, our technical panel is reviewing the players\u2019 performance, and they have indicated that about six will be released. However, it is too early to mention names,\u201d Chiwaula said.
\nMeanwhile, Chiwaula has said they want to, in respect of their scouting philosophy, sign players from the FMB Under-20 National League.
\n\u201cWe don\u2019t want to go for Super League players who will find it difficult to fit into our system. We are looking for FMB under-20 players because we can easily groom them.
