Nyasa Big Bullets\u2019 versatile defender Emmanuel Zoya started his three-week trials with Zambia\u2019s MTN\/Faz Super Division giants, Red Arrows, Monday, but he faces stiff competition from other trialists.
\nArrows Media Officer, Miko Kalimbwe, Monday confirmed that the former Civil Sporting Club captain arrived at the Lusaka army side on Saturday.
\n\u201cWe have just started our programme [Monday], and other guys from Cameroon and Zimbabwe have arrived as well [for the trials at Arrows\u2019 home ground Woodlands Stadium],\u201d he said in a telephone interview.
\nHe was referring to trialists such as Zimbabweans Carrington Gumba, Ephraim Muzarura and Cameroonian Bissong Elvis.
\nThe trials have also attracted Zambian players Josphat Kasuu, Chrispin Sakulanda, Chisenga Lukwembe and Justine Zulu.
\nKalimbwe said it should not be surprising that they got wind of Zoya\u2019s exploits in the just-ended TNM Super League season, which saw him emerge as a top scoring defender (six goals in all competitions).
\n\u201cWe follow each other\u2019s leagues and we see what people do that side. And aren\u2019t we neighbours? People that side tell us about players who are doing well. In fact, we also wanted to invite Righteous Banda [from Civil] but we understand that he has signed for Bullets,\u201d Kalimbwe said.
\nBullets Chief Executive Officer, Fleetwood Haiya, was not readily available for a comment yesterday, but the then Bullets general secretary, Albert Chigoga, confirmed Zoya\u2019s trials.
