Silvers Strikers\u2019 third signing, Jack Chiona, has said it was his dream to play for the Airtel Top 8 Cup champions.
\n\u201cIt was my wish to play for a big team like Silver one day, and I am happy that my dream has come true,\u201d Chiona said on Sunday after completing his switch from Dwangwa United.
\n\u201cI promise that I will continue what I was doing at Dwangwa so that I should not disappoint my new employers.\u201d
\nSilver signed the dead-ball specialist on a three-year contract worth K5 million.
\nChiona was influential for Dwangwa in the just-ended season after scoring 12 goals in all competitions.
\nSilvers interim General Secretary, Thabo Nyirenda, said they were pleased to sign one of their big targets.
\n\u201cJack is one of the talented players in the country and we are excited that we have signed him. He was one of the top-goal scorers last season. It is rare for an attacking midfielder like him to score [all] those goals.
\n\u201cWe are equating him to the likes of Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard; so, it is great news to have a player like him in our camp,\u201d Nyirenda said.
\nDwangwa General Secretary, Samson Zimba, said he was hopeful that Chiona would excel at Silver.
\n\u201cWe are excited that we have produced a player who will showcase his talent at a bigger club. At the same time, it is would be tough for us to look for a replacement,\u201d Zimba said.
