It was once said \u2018if you want to possess the future, invest in the youth\u2019. In this regard, a Blantyre based youth organisation, Inspiration Koner, embarked on a journey of training the youth in development and activism.
\nThe organization has now produced 12 youth activists and development practitioners
\nwho were trained throughout 2017 through participation in leadership and development training sessions.
\nThis included training on sanitation under the tag \u201cYouth Take on Keep Malawi Clean Campaign\u201d. This was done in order to create a platform for the youth to be actively involved in issues of sanitation in the country. It was launched at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Blantyre where over 300 youths from different universities came to clean the hospital premises, together with Blantyre city deputy Mayor Joseph Makwinja who was the guest speaker.
\nFurthermore, the youth were drilled on entrepreneurship skills.
\nSpeaking after presenting certificates to the graduating youth, Inspiration Koner representative Wituly Mwenitete asked them to work hard and implement the ideas learnt.
\n\u201cLeadership is not about positions but a role one plays, and l believe today we graduated leaders because they did not only learn about leadership but they also took responsibility to initiate projects that will transform their communities.\u201d Mwenitete, who is one of the founders of the organization, said.
