TNM Super League champions, Be Forward Wanderers, regrouped in Blantyre yesterday ahead of their Confederation of African Football (Caf) Champions League preliminary round games against the Democratic Republic of Congo\u2019s AS Vita FC next month.
\nSome 24 players reported for the training at Blantyre Sports Club, but conspicuously missing were Jafali Chande, Esau Kanyenda, Stanley Sanudi, Ernest Tambe, Jabulani Linje and new signing Blessings Tembo.
\nThe absence of Tembo is not surprising as he made a U-turn that he wants to stay put at Silver despite that he signed a three-year contract with Wanderers last week.
\nThe Nomads\u2019 other new signings Peter Cholopi, Dan Thole, Denis Chembezi , Niyikiza Aimable and Mishek Botomani reported for the training yesterday.
\nWanderers Team Manager, Steve Madeira, downplayed the absence of some of the players, saying, save for Tembo, the team expects a full house by today.
\n\u201cOur Coach Yasin Osman and Technical Director, Jack Chamangwana, had a meeting with the boys before they started training. We have welcomed the new players. As for Kanyenda and Chande, they have families in Lilongwe, so they were on holiday. They should report for training soon,\u201d Madeira said.
\nHe reserved his comment on Tembo.
\nWanderers host Vita at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe on the weekend of February 9, before travelling to Congo the following week for the return leg.
\nMeanwhile, Masters Security Services FC hope to regroup next week for their Caf Confederations Cup against Petro de Luanda of Angola.
