FMB Under-20 League national champions, Griffin Stars rewarded their players who were outstanding in the 2017 season.
\nThe team\u2019s Director, Griffin Saenda Junior, who also doubles as coach, organised the awards\u2019 gala at Nyasa Big Bullets Club House in Mandala, Blantyre over the weekend.
\nSaenda said the event was meant to motivate the players to work hard next season.
\n\u201cWe need to defend the title, and do well in other competitions. It would not be easy to achieve this. Therefore, we needed to encourage the boys by recognising their effort,\u201d he said.
\nSaenda also hailed organisations, which supported the gala, including the National Youth Football Association (NYFA).
\nNYFA Vice General Secretary, Dan Makiyi, commended the team for rewarding the players.
\n\u201cIt is not easy to organise such an event. Some big teams in the Super League fail to do so. Otherwise, I just encouraged the players to also concentrate on school.
\n\u201cI have also encouraged the team\u2019s coaching panel and management to work hand-in-hand with the players\u2019 parents who share the burden of taking care of the boys during injuries,\u201d Makiyi said.
\nBullets veteran winger Fischer Kondowe, who was the master of ceremony at the gala, encouraged the players to be determined and respect their coaches.
\nDuring the ceremony, Malawi Under-20 starlet, Peter Banda emerged as the Player of the Players and Top Goal Scorer.
\nLevison Chabwera was the Most Disciplined Player while James Julius was the Most Consistent Player.
\nMost Improved Player award went to Emmanuel Chipala, while Yusufu Luwanda was named Best Midfielder.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
