Manchester Thunder shooter, Joyce Mvula, has expressed hope that her side can challenge for the Vitality Netball Superleague franchise title.
\nThunder finished third last season in Superleague for North West England.
\nMvula returned to England on December 18 to complete a deal that will expire in July this year.
\nHaving missed Malawi national netball team test matches against England in November due to visa delays, Mvula, said she was geared to help her team win the title this season.
\n\u201cWe need to polish the mistakes we committed last season and we can make it. We have a pool of good players and the coaches are fantastic. We also have good supporters and this can help us to achieve our goal,\u201d she said.
\nThunder were runners-up in 2016 to Surrey Storm and they finished third in the 2015 Netball Superleague season, beating Yorkshire Jets 55-49 in the third-place playoff.
\nMvula joined Thunder at the start of the last season and she helped the side climb the ladder to position three from five.
\nShe is the first Malawian player to play in England and she is also the second export overseas after Mwawi Kumwenda of Melbourne Vixens.
\nThunder are part of the Netball Superleague, which consists of the top 10 netball teams in England, Scotland and Wales. They finished third in the 2017 Netball Superleague season, beating Team Bath in the third-place play off.
\nThunder\u2019s Director of Netball and Head Coach is Karen Greig, who previously worked as assistant coach at Thunder under previous Head Coach Dan Ryan.
