\nIt is gratifying to note that Computer Crosstalk is not a lone voice that falls on rocks full of spikes that choke the seed. It is humbling; after yelling about annoying security checks at exits of espresso esthetic Spar Shops, the practice was withdrawn.
\nThe goliath National Bank is not too big not to hear Computer Crosstalk\u2019s rambling about delays in cheque clearing systems. The bank now clears cheques in real time. All I can say is that the best reward of a job well done is to have done it.
\nThe year 2018 is no longer a silhouette from the window of 2017; it is here. What would Computer Crosstalk want to see change in this brand new year? That is no brainer; Malawian techno-synergy dynamics.
\nFirst is a plea to TNM and Airtel to, for heaven\u2019s sake, connect Mpamba and Airtel Money. None of the two is greater than their sum. Why should two companies serving the same market work in isolation that smacks impunity? Would it not be nirvana for Airtel Money customers to send e-money to Mpamba clients? And tell me beloved TNM, why can\u2019t I buy Airtel airtime for my kid on Mpamba? Am I not at liberty to load my TNM MiFi using Airtel Money?
\nBoth Mpamba and Airtel Money are banks, electronic ones. It is not, therefore, bizarre that a banking system should dictate to the account holder what not to buy with withdrawn money?
\nThe difference between an e-book and a paperback is not the content but the form and price. The computer hardware bible, Repairing and Building PCs by Scott Muller in paperback cost $43. The equivalent e-book wears a price tag of $14. Now, tell me TNM and Airtel, why should it cost more (an arm and leg) to withdraw money on an e-system with just a server running everything than a bank with multistory buildings, mahogany furniture and granite tiles?
\nOn the other side of e-money equation we find banks that are not eager to link up with Mpamba and Airtel Money. If they did, I would fire National Banks Mo626, or FDH\u2019s 525 and wire money straight to the old lady at Songani. FDH is connected to Airtel Money on paper; the connection does not work flawlessly.
\nIt is about time, we Malawians, adopted brother\u2019s keeper-philosophy and spider web economics in business and tech. That way our technology footage on the world stage will look bigger than the tiny full stop we are on Google Maps.
