Volleyball Association of Malawi (Vam) General Secre\u00actary, Jairos Nkhoma, has said his body faces a daunting task to host the 2019 Confederation of African Volleyball Zone VI Championship.
\nThe announcement that Vam would host the championship was made at the end of this year\u2019s tournament which took place in Zimbabwe earlier this month.
\nSouth Africa will host the 2018 edition.
\nNkhoma said lack of inter\u00acnational facilities poses a chal\u00aclenge to Malawi\u2019s dream of hosting the biggest champion-ship of Southern Africa.
\nHe said they would seek Ma\u00aclawi National Council of Sports (MNCS) to intervene.
\n\u201cIt would be better if we start preparing now. You know, it is embarrassing that when we go to other countries, we play on in-doors courts, but here, we do not have facilities of such kind.
\n\u201cMuch as we are excited that we will host the tournament, which would be beneficial to the country in terms forex genera\u00action, modern-standard facility remains a challenge,\u201d he said.
\nHe said the country should have had community in-door courts instead of relying on pri\u00acvate-owned facilities.
\nNkhoma, however, said his association would work tireless\u00acly with relevant stakeholders to address the challenges before 2019.
\nMNCS Executive Secretary, George Jana, said the council was ready to work with Vam.
\n\u201cThey are yet to write us on the matter. And it is our man\u00acdate to help in any way possible. But they have to follow proper channels,\u201d he said.
