Namibian netball side, Afrocat Lions, have hinted on the possibility of them signing Malawian netballers.
\nLions Operations Officer, Dimitri Bittler, confirmed their interest in Malawian netballers after touring Blantyre.
\nDuring the tour, Lions lost 45-18 to Thunder Queens on Monday and 58-14 to Kukoma Diamonds yesterday at Blantyre Youth Centre.
\n\u201cWe want to have a strong squad competing in our [Namibia] Premier League. Hopefully, if an opportunity arises, we should be able to sign one or two players from Malawi,\u201d he said.
\nBittler said Afrocat want to build relationships with sport clubs and youth groups across Africa.
\n\u201cBasically, it is a developmental initiative that we came here for. We are trying to build a relationship between Malawi and Namibia. As a youth organisation, we are also trying to liaise with different youth clubs and sport clubs across Africa,\u201d he said.
\nThunder Queens\u2019 player, Thoko Evance, hailed the international test matches.
\n\u201cEven though we won, we learnt some things, including how to communicate effectively during a match. We would like Netball Association of Malawi (Nam) to organise more of these games,\u201d she said.
\nNam General Secretary, Carol Bapu, thanked Afrocat for touring the country.
\n\u201cWe are establishing connections with our colleagues within and outside Africa where we should have more of these games. Players gain exposure this way,\u201d she said.
\nLions have several netball, volleyball and football teams.
