The Flames Head Coach, Ronny van Geneugden, has hinted that he would engage Football Association of Malawi (Fam) over the possibility of beefing up and restructuring his backroom staff next year.
\n\u201cIt is important to sit [down] with the Fam President [Walter Nyamilandu] and find ways of making improvements,\u201d the coach told Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) Wednesday.
\n\u201c[As part of] our plans in 2018, we want to create an academy and the technical panel will become bigger. We have to build our technical panel and divide who is working with the national team, academy, local coaches and youth coaches.\u201d
\nThe Belgian, who was appointed in April, unveiled the plan ahead of next year\u2019s matches against Comoros, Morocco and Cameroon in the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers.
\nPlans to bloat the panel come amid reports that there is a fall-out between the Belgian and his assistants, Deklerk Msakakuona and Gerald Phiri Senior, who are in the final year of their one-year contracts.
\nPeter Mponda is van Geneugden\u2019s other assistant.
\nNyamilandu was not readily available for a comment yesterday. But recently, the Fam boss told The Daily Times that van Geneugden would, eventually, choose his preferred assistant coaches at the end of the year.
