{"id":57780,"date":"2017-12-19T08:55:03","date_gmt":"2017-12-19T06:55:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=57780"},"modified":"2017-12-19T08:55:04","modified_gmt":"2017-12-19T06:55:04","slug":"tabitha-chawinga-misses-out-on-caf-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/12\/19\/tabitha-chawinga-misses-out-on-caf-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Tabitha Chawinga misses out on Caf award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Malawi national netball team superstar, Tabitha Chawinga, has missed out on the chance to become the first Malawian to win a Confederation of African Football (Caf) award.<\/p>\n<p>Tabitha\u2019s name is not on the final shortlist of three players to contest for the continent\u2019s Women\u2019s Footballer of the Year award.<\/p>\n<p>The list, which was released Monday, has Nigeria\u2019s Asisat Oshoala, Chrestina Kgatlana of South Africa and Cameroonian Gabrielle Onguene.<\/p>\n<p>Tabitha was nominated for the accolade after she won the Golden Boot Award in Sweden\u2019s top women\u2019s football league last month.<\/p>\n<p>In the main category of African Player of the Year, the competitors are Mohamed Salah of Egypt, Gabonese Pierre- Emerick Aubameyang and Senegal\u2019s Sadio Mane.<\/p>\n<p>Senegal\u2019s Krepin Diatta, Patson Daka of Zambia and Salam Giddou (Mali) are on the Youth Player of the Year shortlist.<\/p>\n<p>The Coach of the Year contest will be between Gernot Rohr of Nigeria, Egypt\u2019s Hector Cuper and Wydad Athletic Club mentor L\u2019Hussein Amoutta.<\/p>\n<p>Competing for the Club of the Year award will be Egypt\u2019s Al Ahly, TP Mazembe of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Wydad Athletic Club (Morocco).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Malawi national netball team superstar, Tabitha Chawinga, has missed out on the chance to become the first Malawian to win a Confederation of African Football (Caf) award.
