It is not all the time when bitter rivals Nyasa Big Bullets and Be Forward Wanderers wish each other well when it comes to action on the pitch, unless there is a good reason for doing so.
\nBut in a departure from one of the elements that characterise the rivalry between the two, Bullets have congratulated Wanderers for winning the TNM Super League title and wished them well in next year\u2019s Caf Champions League.
\nIn a statement released by Bullets General Secretary, Albert Chigoga, the People\u2019s Team says Wanderers deservedly won the league title with a game to spare.
\n\u201cThe consistency of Wanderers in the 2017 season has been sublime under the tutelage of resilient leadership of Chairman Gift Mkandawire, General Secretary Mike Butao and the entire leadership of the team.
\n\u201cFor us to trail Mighty Wanderers all the way brought euphoria and genuine hype in [sic] the season. Once again, congratulations! You are the champions,\u201d reads the statement.
\nIt also goes on to wish the Nomads well as they prepare for their Champions League tie against the Democratic Republic of Congo\u2019s AS Vita.
\nIn response, Mkandawire thanked Bullets for the best wishes, saying the gesture is an indication of the cordial relationship that exists between the two sides.
\n\u201cWe may be rivals, yes, but we relate very well. Bullets joined us during the funeral of our late chairman, George Chamangwana. This proves that our rivalry only exists on the pitch but, outside it, we are great friends,\u201d he said.
\nWanderers won the league title on Saturday after thumping Masters Security 4-1 to take their points tally to 68, a point above Bullets\u2019 maximum of 67.
