{"id":57725,"date":"2017-12-18T09:55:28","date_gmt":"2017-12-18T07:55:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=57725"},"modified":"2017-12-18T09:55:28","modified_gmt":"2017-12-18T07:55:28","slug":"anisha-bashir-donates-to-qech","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/12\/18\/anisha-bashir-donates-to-qech\/","title":{"rendered":"Anisha Bashir donates to QECH"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>African Boxing Union (Abu) Champion Anisha Bashir Sunday donated groceries worth K100,000 to patients at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) in Blantyre.<br \/>\nAccompanied by her No Pain No Gain Boxing Promotions manager, Craig Rousseau, Anisha donated packets of sugar, bars of washing and bathing soap and bottles of orange squash at QECH\u2019s Ward B.<br \/>\nAnisha said she decided to make the donation as a way of celebrating her <a href=\"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/queen-of-africa\/\">victory in the continental bout<\/a> which took place about two weeks ago in Nairobi, Kenya.<br \/>\n\u201cI always feel for the sick who are in different hospitals. I know they lack various items and their quick recovery depends on the support we can give them. That is why I thought of sharing with them the little I got from my Abu title.<br \/>\n\u201cWith Christmas around the corner, it is important for all of us to remember the sick in our hospitals. This is just the beginning. I intend to make more donations to our hospitals,\u201d Anisha said.<br \/>\nAnisha lifted the continental title after knocking out Kenyan champion, Consolata Masunga, in the ninth round of their fight.<br \/>\nRousseau said it is important for the country\u2019s sports personalities to take the lead in caring for the needy.<br \/>\n\u201cAnisha has grown up knowing what happens when one cannot fend for themselves because of illness. She is simply remembering people who support her.<br \/>\n\u201cShe represents the same people and whenever she does well she makes them proud. They support her with their love and it is important to give back to them,\u201d he said.<br \/>\nOne of the recipients of the donation, Eliza Faliyoti, said she appreciated the spirit of goodwill behind the donation.<br \/>\nFaliyati said the items would help her in taking good care of her sick son.<br \/>\nFollowing her success on the continental stage, Anisha is expected to graduate to the global stage where she will be involved in a World Boxing Council fight early next year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>African Boxing Union (Abu) Champion Anisha Bashir Sunday donated groceries worth K100,000 to patients at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) in Blantyre.
