Be Forward Wanderers players are set to get huge Christmas bonuses for winning this season\u2019s TNM Super League title.
\nWanderers Chairperson, Gift Mkandawire, said the team\u2019s stakeholders will meet this week to discuss how to reward the players for delivering the coveted league title.
\n\u201cNormally, we give players 60 percent of the prize money but, in this case, we want them to get Christmas bonuses before Christmas. We want to reward them for the great achievement,\u201d Mkandawire said.
\nHe disclosed that some of the team\u2019s die-hards were pledging huge sums of money following the success.
\n\u201cWe are yet to document the pledges. But the players can be assured of great rewards. We want them to know that they did not labour in vain,\u201d Mkandawire said.
\nHe also hailed the players for winning the title in line with the dreams of the club\u2019s former chairman, the late George Chamangwana.
\n\u201cThe late Chamangwana had made his intentions clear at the start of the season that we had to win the league title. After his death, we asked the players to fight hard and honour him by becoming champions.
\n\u201cNow they have done it and we believe the soul of Chamangwana is appeased and is resting in peace,\u201d Mkandawire said.
\nMeanwhile, Wanderers Head Coach, Yasin Osman, has said his charges would rest for two weeks before commencing Caf Champions League preparations.
\nThe Nomads have been paired with the Democratic Republic of Congo\u2019s AC Vita in the elite continental club competition\u2019s preliminary round.
\nOsman also paid tribute to his players for not giving up when the race got tighter.
\nThe team\u2019s skipper, Joseph Kamwendo, said winning his first league title with the side remains a memorable event.
\n\u201cI have been with this club for years and I left it for foreign clubs. It is an honour to win the championship with the Nomads,\u201d he said.
\nWanderers have ended their 11-year wait for the league championship with a game to spare after beating Masters Security 4-1 at Balaka Stadium on Saturday to amass 68 points.
\nEven if Wanderers fall in their last game against Red Lions on Saturday, nothing will change the status quo.
