{"id":57717,"date":"2017-12-18T09:48:33","date_gmt":"2017-12-18T07:48:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=57717"},"modified":"2017-12-18T09:48:34","modified_gmt":"2017-12-18T07:48:34","slug":"sho-baraka-gets-massive-audience-in-lilongwe-show","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/12\/18\/sho-baraka-gets-massive-audience-in-lilongwe-show\/","title":{"rendered":"Sho Baraka gets massive audience in Lilongwe show"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>American Christian rapper Sho Baraka, real name Amisho Baraka Lewis, on Saturday finally performed at Gateway Mall in Lilongwe, where he attracted a good audience.<br \/>\nHowever, rains fell soon after the rapper finished his performance and some people got soaked on their way home.<br \/>\nThis was a free show and had, on the menu, performances from local acts such as Faith Mussa.<br \/>\nThe American rapper said he was excited to perform in the country for the first time.<br \/>\n\u201cThis is my first time to perform in Malawi but the support I got is massive,\u201d he said.<br \/>\nSho Baraka said he has been to Zambia twice but the support he got in the country was exceptional.<br \/>\nThrough his songs, he ministered the word of God.<br \/>\nThe show was dominated by the youth.<br \/>\nThe American rapper yesterday performed at the Blantyre Cultural Centre.<br \/>\nThe two concerts were organised by Flood Church.<br \/>\nFlood Church pastor, Yamikani Kalizang\u2019oma, said the two gospel shows were organised because the church believes in creating authentic environments where young people can engage in conversations of faith and hope.<br \/>\n\u201cAnd, this being December, it was a brilliant way to celebrate with friends and family while enjoying beautiful music from all over the world and that\u2019s USA, Zambia and Malawi,\u201d Kalizang\u2019oma said.<br \/>\nIt is not the first time for Flood Church to organise a show as, in May this year, they invited US Christian rapper Da Truth alongside South Africa\u2019s Lilly Million.<br \/>\nThis time around, Sho Baraka came alongside Zambia\u2019s hip hop artist Mag44.<br \/>\nKalizang\u2019oma said both artists are passionate about fighting injustices and encouraging others to use their gifts.<br \/>\nBorn on January 10 1979, Sho Baraka, who is also a writer, has recorded both independently and as a founding member of the 116 Clique.<br \/>\nHis debut album Turn My Life Up was released in November 2007 while his second, Lions and Liars, was released in March 2010.<br \/>\nHis third album, Talented Xth, was released in January 2013 with his fourth album, The Narrative, being released in October 2016.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>American Christian rapper Sho Baraka, real name Amisho Baraka Lewis, on Saturday finally performed at Gateway Mall in Lilongwe, where he attracted a good audience.
