Super League of Malawi has charged Mafco FC with the offence of misconduct in relation to violent incidents that occurred during the soldiers\u2019 TNM Super League match against Nyasa Big Bullets at Chitowe last week.
\nMafco will also answer the charge of bringing the game of football into disrepute after their players descended on the referee and his first assistant after the final whistle.
\n\u201cYour players, led by (number 2) Zikhole Nguluwe, (number 5) Calisto Kalinda, (number 16) Dingiswayo Banda and other unidentified players plus officials chased after, assaulted and beat up referee Easter Zimba after the final whistle before being rescued by police and stewards. \u201cYour player (10) Martin Masoatheka assaulted reserve referee Joseph Nyirongo, who was injured on the left eye and was referred to hospital while your player (3) Emmanuel Chipeta assaulted and slapped second assistant referee Hendrix Maseko,\u201d reads Sulom\u2019s statement.
\nThe Super League governing body says the team\u2019s conduct is contrary to article 21 (20) of the elite league\u2019s Rules and Regulations.
\nThe military side has been given 48 hours to respond.
\nMafco General Secretary, Jimmy Chisenga, could not be reached for comment but, two days after the game, which Bullets won 2-1, Chisenga wrote Sulom, complaining about poor officiation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
